Unrinji Temple, also known as “Cat Temple,” is a Buddhist site located deep in the mountains of Yamaguchi Prefecture. The temple honors cats thanks to a local feline who resided in the area hundreds of years ago and showed immense loyalty to its samurai master. Cat lovers are sure to delight in the numerous cat statues and carvings that can be spotted all over this hidden temple.
