Pieces from the Maneki Neko-tei Collection

A special exhibition taking place at the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art looks at a range of artworks that depict cats from the collection of Maneki Neko-tei. This mysterious collector has been amassing pieces for around 40 years, and there will be Japanese paintings, ukiyo-e prints, sculptures, and ceramics on display. Some of the artists featured include Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Yumeji Takehisa, Leonard Fujita, and Ryusei Kishida to name just a handful.

Whether you're a fan of all things feline or not, the exhibition offers an interesting historical insight into how cats have inspired a wealth of art in various genres.

Adult admission to the event is priced at 1300 yen.

Via Public Transport:

The Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art is located approximately four minutes on foot from Nishijuhatchome Station, which is served by the Tozai subway line.

Via Private Vehicle:

As there is no dedicated parking lot available at the museum, taking public transportation whenever possible is advised. However, there are multiple paid parking lots in the surrounding streets.
