Fujisan Hanabi is a large-scale fireworks event held near the base of Mount Fuji, combining Japan’s long tradition of hanabi with the dramatic scenery of the country’s most famous mountain. Designed as a premium, ticketed spectacle rather than a typical neighborhood fireworks festival, the event features carefully choreographed displays created by leading Japanese pyrotechnic companies. Against the dark silhouette of Mount Fuji, massive shells and synchronized sequences illuminate the sky, transforming the surrounding landscape into a panoramic stage for light and sound.

Unlike many fireworks festivals that take place during the height of summer, Fujisan Hanabi is often held in spring, when clear air and cooler temperatures allow the colors and shapes of the fireworks to appear especially vivid. Programs typically unfold like a performance, with themed segments set to music and dramatic pacing that builds toward a powerful finale. Hosted at venues around the Mount Fuji area—such as motorsports circuits or outdoor resorts—the event draws visitors seeking a unique perspective on Japanese fireworks culture while enjoying one of the country’s most iconic landscapes
