Sumidagawa - Urban Landscapes of the Edo Period 2023

A special exhibition at the Hibiya Library and Museum

Tokyo's Sumida River was a major transportation artery during the Edo Period, and the river has served as inspiration for artists and writers throughout history. A special exhibition taking place at the Hibiya Library and Museum will explore a variety of Sumida River related artworks, including pieces from the likes of Sadahide Hashimoto and Utagawa Kunisada to name just a couple.

Admission to the event is free of charge. If you do plan on attending, please note that the museum will be closed for the Marine Day public holiday on July 17th.

The Hibiya Library and Museum is located within Hibiya Park, and the venue can be accessed in just five minutes on foot from Hibiya Station (Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line and Hibiya Line, and the Toei Mita Line). Please note that there is no dedicated parking lot for the museum, so utilizing public transport is highly recommended.
