If you’re in Japan and a fan of the Games, there is good news for you regarding the delayed Olympic Games and Paralympic Games starting from July 23rd, 2021. According to a decision made on June 21st, 2021, up to 10,000 domestic fans will be permitted to attend events, with a 50% venue capacity limit also in place. The decision comes after months of speculation that the games would go on without spectators, so it should be a great relief to many fans.

This ruling comes on the tail of similar guidelines in place for concerts and sporting events that are currently being held under Covid-19 restrictions. Of course, if the situation worsens, the rules may be adjusted. However, it currently seems as though some lucky Olympics fans will be able to see their favorite events.

Attending fans must enter and leave in staggered groups to avoid congestion and wear a mask at all times. Attendees are also advised to go directly to and from the event venues without stopping off at any other destination in an attempt to curb any potential virus spread.

Relatedly, the live viewing venues for the Olympic Games, which were to be located across Tokyo, are instead going to be used as mass vaccination centers. This is great news as Japan continues to ramp up its vaccination efforts. The effort will make the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games as safe as possible and lead to Japan's Covid-recovery.
